Returning agency to American citizens.
UPDATE Feb 7, 2025: I just posted this in January and we already need to slow our roll because of the chaos that’s happening destabilizing many institutions. That said, we are more determined than ever to help unlock voices of our youth who have zero faith in a future. We are waiting on our 501(c)3 (that’s an education nonprofit not a political nonprofit) and then we will begin pilot programs.
The Agora Project is a 501(c)3 dedicated to helping Americans feel like they have a role in how our country works regardless of party affiliation. We strive to defeat civic apathy by reminding Americans of their vital role in determining America’s future.
We do that through four key contributions:
1. Supporting the Fourth Estate.
We work with journalists to encourage them to provide actionable news designed to help communities take action.
2. Turn organizing into citizen guidance to share with elected representatives.
Rather than top-down government, we provide tools to help citizens think through issues and prioritize recommendations based on analysis and consensus.
3. Restore basic civics to schools via student government and journalism.
Most programs have been cut or marginalized. Our tools help teachers and parents teach kids how to govern, negotiate differences of opinion, and speak truth to power.
4. Aggregate pro-democracy practices to help fight authoritarianism.
An online portal curating actionable news that helps citizens protect themselves from
authoritarianism.
