MAGA Loathes (Most) Victims

January 15, 2025

Fires and earthquakes are what any native Californian fears and understands. Golden State Killer followers, evidence photos here. I grew up in Santa Paula and Ventura, and on that night in October 1967, my baby brother was born. My dad was with my almost three-year-old brother and me, and we watched the fires consume South… More MAGA Loathes (Most) Victims

Day 7: Trump Doesn’t Need Your Vote

October 28, 2024

Watch on YouTube or listen via podcast. Important! I neglected to include the improvements made by Congress after the 2020 election. They have made this HARDER to do (thank god) and I have the details at the end of this blog. My apologies for not including this important information. It can still happen, but man,… More Day 7: Trump Doesn’t Need Your Vote

Day 15: Understanding Trump’s Recent Bizarre Outbursts

October 21, 2024

Watch on YouTube or listen via podcast. As people age, they often lose some control over what they say. This change is called disinhibition. It’s when the brain becomes less able to hold back thoughts that might be inappropriate or offensive. This means older adults, like Trump, might speak more impulsively, without filtering their words.… More Day 15: Understanding Trump’s Recent Bizarre Outbursts

Day 21: NBC Exec Admits Trump is an Illusion

October 17, 2024

Watch on YouTube or listen via podcast. My pod today is based on this article by John D. Miller. Below is a transcription of my podcast that includes the article with some additional context. Welcome to the podcast. It is September 17th, and I believe we have about 20 days left until the election. It’s… More Day 21: NBC Exec Admits Trump is an Illusion

Day 22: It’s Time for White Americans to Assimilate

October 16, 2024

Watch on YouTube or listen via podcast. What if our big problem is white people refusing to change? And what if I told you that if you’re willing to change, you could experience improved cognition and more creativity, discover new traditions, try new foods, and maybe get colored powder thrown at your clothes? That’s because… More Day 22: It’s Time for White Americans to Assimilate

Day 23: Curtis Yarvin & JD Vance’s Anti-Democracy Push

October 15, 2024

Watch on YouTube or listen via podcast. Imagine if a small group of billionaires and political influencers wanted to reshape America by abandoning democracy. That’s exactly what people like Curtis Yarvin, JD Vance, and Peter Thiel are working toward. Known as a leader in “neo-reactionary” thought, Curtis Yarvin advocates for a government that looks more… More Day 23: Curtis Yarvin & JD Vance’s Anti-Democracy Push

Day 25: The Role of the Fourth Estate in Democracy

October 13, 2024

Watch on YouTube or listen via podcast. The Fourth Estate—the press or news media—plays an essential role in democratic societies, functioning as a watchdog that holds government and other powerful entities accountable. Exposing injustices, corruption, and power abuses is a critical check that reinforces transparency and upholds the rule of law. In this way, the… More Day 25: The Role of the Fourth Estate in Democracy

Day 27: Going from Obama to Trump Hit Gen Z Hard

October 11, 2024

Watch on YouTube or listen via podcast. I am writing this because of something my 25-year-old daughter said: “When we switched from Obama to Trump, life got dark, hope died, and everything was awful.” I knew how much I felt the world change in 2016, but based on my daughter’s age at the time, 16… More Day 27: Going from Obama to Trump Hit Gen Z Hard

Day 28: Yes. Trump’s Vile Behavior Can Trigger Trauma

October 10, 2024

Watch on YouTube or listen via podcast. In recent years, many have felt an almost visceral impact of living through the Trump presidency. The chaotic political landscape, coupled with the intensity of national crises—from the COVID-19 pandemic to social and political unrest—left emotional and mental scars for millions. Yet, as the next election looms, experts… More Day 28: Yes. Trump’s Vile Behavior Can Trigger Trauma

Day 29: Trump is Too Old and Too Young

October 10, 2024

Watch on YouTube or listen via podcast. I can’t believe how many times a day I yell at Donald Trump to grow up. I also yell at Elon for this because these man-children have too much power and zero self-awareness. You can add names to the list of adults who behave like children in the… More Day 29: Trump is Too Old and Too Young

Day 31: Trump 2017 vs Trump 2024

October 6, 2024

Watch on YouTube or listen via podcast. Today, let’s reflect. It’s a good time to review how 2017 Trump has morphed into 2024 Trump. I compared his inauguration speech from 2017 and his stump speech at a campaign rally in Waunakee, Wisconsin, just before the Vice Presidential Debate. But before we start, this news just… More Day 31: Trump 2017 vs Trump 2024

Day 32: For the GOP, The Cruelty is the Point

October 5, 2024

Watch on YouTube or listen via podcast. This is part 2, here’s part 1. Timothy McVeigh, the domestic terrorist, was responsible for the 1995 Oklahoma City bombing. McVeigh was drawn into far-right, anti-government ideology throughout the 1980s and early 1990s, partially through the influence of media and fringe publications that stoked his anger and fear… More Day 32: For the GOP, The Cruelty is the Point

Day 33: Is Cruelty an American Norm?

October 4, 2024

Watch on YouTube or listen via podcast. Let’s start with the true story of Fred Korematsu, a Japanese-American who refused to go to the internment camps during World War II. Korematsu believed that the forced relocation and internment of Japanese Americans was unjust and a violation of his civil rights. In 1942, after the U.S.… More Day 33: Is Cruelty an American Norm?

Jen Carole's 10 Commandments
(no hierarchy intended)

  1. People are more important than things - like tech, devices, sports, alcohol, and guns. Stop what you're doing and see them.
  2. Help others be successful. If you focus externally and on others, you will be nourished.
  3. Live with intention. Mindfulness is essential for effective agency so you can manifest what you want.
  4. Assume the best (generally). Most people have good intentions. Expect it. And give people grace.
  5. Seek to understand. We tend to fill in gaps with our bias, slow down, and clarify. Their experience is not your experience.
  6. Know your limits and red lines. Imagine how far you're willing to go to pursue your mission. Also, know when enough is enough. This is your armor.
  7. Past behavior predicts future behavior. Caveat: people can change, but it takes work; you'll know if they've done it. This rule is 98% reliable.
  8. Energy is contagious; it works for both positive and negative energy. Your energy will be reflected - so choose wisely. Coming in hot is typically unproductive.
  9. Don't provide feedback unless asked. If you feel compelled, that might be a you thing. Ask if they'd like feedback; if they say no, believe them.
  10. Always find the humor. I made jokes when my dad and stepmom were killed. Why? Because humor soothes the soul.
