Day 29: Trump is Too Old and Too Young

October 10, 2024

Watch on YouTube or listen via podcast. I can’t believe how many times a day I yell at Donald Trump to grow up. I also yell at Elon for this because these man-children have too much power and zero self-awareness. You can add names to the list of adults who behave like children in the… More Day 29: Trump is Too Old and Too Young

Day 30: How to Keep Going When It’s Hard

October 7, 2024

Watch on YouTube or listen via podcast. In today’s landscape of political turbulence and rapid-fire information, it’s hard not to feel exhausted. The challenges keep coming: misinformation campaigns, blatant racism, eroding women’s rights, and seemingly unchecked power in the hands of individuals who use it without regard for public welfare. Figures like Elon Musk or… More Day 30: How to Keep Going When It’s Hard

Day 31: Trump 2017 vs Trump 2024

October 6, 2024

Watch on YouTube or listen via podcast. Today, let’s reflect. It’s a good time to review how 2017 Trump has morphed into 2024 Trump. I compared his inauguration speech from 2017 and his stump speech at a campaign rally in Waunakee, Wisconsin, just before the Vice Presidential Debate. But before we start, this news just… More Day 31: Trump 2017 vs Trump 2024

Day 32: For the GOP, The Cruelty is the Point

October 5, 2024

Watch on YouTube or listen via podcast. This is part 2, here’s part 1. Timothy McVeigh, the domestic terrorist, was responsible for the 1995 Oklahoma City bombing. McVeigh was drawn into far-right, anti-government ideology throughout the 1980s and early 1990s, partially through the influence of media and fringe publications that stoked his anger and fear… More Day 32: For the GOP, The Cruelty is the Point

Day 33: Is Cruelty an American Norm?

October 4, 2024

Watch on YouTube or listen via podcast. Let’s start with the true story of Fred Korematsu, a Japanese-American who refused to go to the internment camps during World War II. Korematsu believed that the forced relocation and internment of Japanese Americans was unjust and a violation of his civil rights. In 1942, after the U.S.… More Day 33: Is Cruelty an American Norm?

Day 34: Why Crypto is Like Viagra for White Men

October 3, 2024

Watch on YouTube or listen via podcast. This is part 2, here’s part 1. Cryptocurrency, particularly Bitcoin, has attracted a unique mix of innovators, venture capitalists, and political figures—many of whom are wealthy white men. Day 35: The GOP & Project 2025 Hot for Cryptocurrency

October 2, 2024

Watch on YouTube or listen via podcast. Cryptocurrency, or crypto for short, is a digital or virtual currency that relies on cryptography for security. Unlike traditional money (like dollars or euros), it is decentralized and operates on blockchain technology, essentially a public, distributed ledger. Day 36: VP Debate – Two Very Different Futures for America

October 1, 2024

Watch on YouTube or listen via podcast. The VP Debate was everything I thought it would be. A lot of information, most of it bogus. Vance’s smooth and competent performance was characterized by an artisanal blend of condescension and contempt, littered with mansplaining and obsequiousness. In other words, Vance’s performance was polished but laced with… More Day 36: VP Debate – Two Very Different Futures for America

October 1, 2024

Watch on YouTube or listen via podcast. Tonight’s VP debate will not have fact-checking. CBS has assured us that won’t be the case. Understand CBS is abandoning its responsibility. The media plays a key role during a campaign, especially when helping people understand the truth. Day 41: Anti-Abortion? Project 2025 and Trump Delivers

September 26, 2024

Watch on YouTube or listen via podcast. After spending a lot of time on Project 2025, I started thinking about how things might play out, particularly when it comes to abortion. It's me! Jen! And I'm cleaned up and about to see Trae Crowder in Santa Cruz. I'm even wearing a tiny bit of make-up. Wow.
Dinner before seeing Trae Crowder, December 5, 2024.

Jen Carole's 10 Commandments
(no hierarchy intended)

  1. People are more important than things - like tech, devices, sports, alcohol, and guns. Stop what you're doing and see them.
  2. Help others be successful. If you focus externally and on others, you will be nourished.
  3. Live with intention. Mindfulness is essential for effective agency so you can manifest what you want.
  4. Assume the best (generally). Most people have good intentions. Expect it. And give people grace.
  5. Seek to understand. We tend to fill in gaps with our bias, slow down, and clarify. Their experience is not your experience.
  6. Know your limits and red lines. Imagine how far you're willing to go to pursue your mission. Also, know when enough is enough. This is your armor.
  7. Past behavior predicts future behavior. Caveat: people can change, but it takes work; you'll know if they've done it. This rule is 98% reliable.
  8. Energy is contagious; it works for both positive and negative energy. Your energy will be reflected - so choose wisely. Coming in hot is typically unproductive.
  9. Don't provide feedback unless asked. If you feel compelled, that might be a you thing. Ask if they'd like feedback; if they say no, believe them.
  10. Always find the humor. I made jokes when my dad and stepmom were killed. Why? Because humor soothes the soul.
